What are the best superfoods for my health? This is a question we may have asked ourselves at some point, but let's clear up the question:
Superfoods are the best allies for a healthy diet and a strengthened immune system.
These foods are rich in vitamins, enzymes, minerals, phytonutrients and antioxidants, and also have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. They contain a high nutritional value that allows our organism to remain in optimal conditions; reducing the possibility of contracting some kind of illness.
In Peru we have a great diversity of superfoods, the most commercialized, according to PromPerú's figures, are around 44 products classified in 7 categories:
Among the fruits are camu camu, aguaymanto, blueberry, cherimoya, lucuma, granadilla, grape, mango, pomegranate, soursop, tangerine and avocado.
It is made up of peppers, olives, artichokes and asparagus. To the group of the peppers or capsicum it conforms it: the pepper, the pimiento and the rocoto; emphasizing these products: yellow pepper, pepper panca pimiento morrón, piquillo pepper, pepper charapita and pipí of monkey, between others.
Composed of carob trees, sweet potato, maca, yacon and native potato, the latter having at least 1500 documented varieties.
This category is composed of the next beans: chestnut, chia, sacha inchi, quinoa, cañihua, kiwicha, giant corn and purple corn.
From the immensity of plants and herbs, existing in our territory, with exceptional properties for our health we must highlight: the muña and the uña de gato.
With its varieties Curaray, Nacional, Marañón, Nanay, Iquitos and Contamana.
Cacao is a food that originates in the Amazon basin, but its production has moved to different latitudes of the country.
Known for their high quantity of omega 3, blue fish are anchovy, tuna, mackerel and horse mackerel.
Having knowledge of the great variety of superfoods available to us, we can know which one is best for me?
As we indicated at the beginning of this article, the best way to solve this question is to visit the nutritionist and receive the appropriate advice to find out which product best suits the needs of my body.
In that sense, we provide you with a brief list of superfoods that you can buy quickly, adapt to your lifestyle in a simple way and above all, provide you with the nutrients your body needs.
1. Maca: You can find it as maca flour and gelatinized maca either in powder or capsules. You can consume it directly, in drinks and/or preparations. It will give you the perfect energy to start the day.
2. Quinoa: In all the supermarkets, markets and shops you can find some of its varieties, you can consume it in stews, drinks and salads. All its varieties and preparations will provide you with the amount of daily protein you need.
3. Cacao: You can find it in tablets, commercialized by different brands. It is advisable to consume the purest cocoa possible, you can do it in drinks or healthy desserts.
4. Olive: Whether you like black or green olives, what we recommend is to consume them frequently, you can use them to replace some processed foods present at breakfast.
5. Camu camu: You can eat the fruit directly or prepare a jam free of added sugar. You can also find dehydrated camu camu, which is a highly recommended snack, which in addition to being delicious provides a lot of energy nutrients.
